Back in 2003 I have seen a fantastic animated short film by Koji Yamamura called Atama Yama (Mt. Head) which is based on a traditional Rakugo story. It definitely was an indirect influence on my project, exploring the borderland between reality and illusion.
Below is the short and also a later work of Yamamura, his interpretation of Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor which will be a very valuable influence on my project as well. I love Yamamura's work, both in narrative and stylistically.
